A Blingy Week!

Everyone that knows me well, knows that I love my bling!  I wear blinged out shirts, blinged out jeans and blingy jewelry.  I don’t want to be over the top or anything but a little bling never hurt anyone!

This week was especially blingy for our family!

The girls got their ears pierced.  Morgan had been wanting to get Emma’s ears pierced for a while and so after workout one night, my friend Susan decided to get her ears pierced and Emma decided that sounded like a good idea :)

Madelyn had been telling me that she wanted her ears pierced, but she was a little afraid of it, so at first she was going to get hers done when she turned 5 and then it was when she turned 6.  When she saw the pictures of Emma getting her ears pierced, she decided that if Emma was THAT brave, she could be brave as well!  Not even many tears shed!  YAY!  They both look so beautiful.  I’m so stinkin’ blessed!

Can’t forget Susan!

I switched over to the Fitbit Flex ( I used to have the One) and I really do like it, but it was a bit BORING!  So, a little bling to the rescue.  Susan’s daughter, Roxanna took care of designing for me.  I am not crafty one bit…..  Anyway, I LOVE how it turned out and now I feel like it is a piece of jewelry!  Healthy jewelry, I can handle that!

What a Weekend!

What a weekend!  Had so much fun with my family and I am so thankful that they came to see us!!!

Madelyn made it without her mom and dad just fine for 4 days, no tears, not much whining and we had a blast!

Mom, Virginia and Dalton came for the weekend to have fun with us!  Madelyn enjoyed playing with the wigs

There was some swimming, shopping and eating!  We talked, played and just enjoyed the time we had together.

A couple of other people had fun with the wigs too!

Madelyn kept Dalton busy the whole weekend.  Read it AGAIN!

It was HOT!  I was really missing those cool days of our vacation!

Thank goodness we got a little rain last night.  Not much, but maybe enough to cool it off a little!

This morning it is back to the grind.  Started my day off with my Shakeology, now getting to my morning workout – TurboFire Fire 30 and  Stretch 10!

It’s going to be a GREAT day!

Discussion:  How was your weekend?

Happy Mom’s Day!!!!

I’ve had the best Mother’s Day!  It’s been a long day, but we’ve had sooo much fun!

This afternoon, we were at the lake and Nick, Lauren, Jake and Morgan came down for lunch with Grandma and the family!  We had tacos and mini-cupcakes.  A few of us (shall remain nameless) had a few mini-cupcakes…..

I got on of my favorite junk foods – OH Ding-Dongs, how I love and loathe thee at the same time….

Then we headed over to Chase and Meredith’s for a family dinner!  I love that I don’t have to cook all day long :)

The only way the day would have been perfect would have been if I could have been with my Mom!  I saw her last weekend and will see her again in a couple of weeks, but still it is Mother’s Day!

Love you Mom!

throwdown

I issued a throwdown for my nephew Dalton yesterday, publicly on facebook.  It read:

I’m pretty sure that I can whoop you in a game of 5 dice tonight!!! You up for it????

I heard crickets.  When we got to Mom’s, Dalton came over and I asked why he didn’t reply to my throwdown.  He told me he hadn’t been on facebook.  WHAT????  How do you go a whole day without checking your facebook?  That is another story altogether.

So, after a great dinner of taco soup (thanks to Denisa for sharing the recipe), we had a hot game of 5 dice!

Dalton and Brian

Mom and Dad

Daryl, Devin and Dalton

all the action!

The result???

Winner, winner, Chicken dinner!

Dalton got a beating, then Daryl gave all of us a true beating!  We had a blast!  I love spending time with my family.  Just wish the boys could be here with us!!

Family Fun Times!

Hopefully, you are going to take a little time today for some pampering. Enjoy it while you can!

Last weekend, we were at the lake. Madelyn had a great time in the water and we got some cute photos of her!! I hope you don’t mind me sharing a couple. She’s just so darn cute (sounds like every other grandparent in the world!!)

Jake forgot to bring shoes to swim in the lake with, this is what he came up with.  We were laughing so hard.  It reminded me of when the women in China would bind their feet to keep them small.  He was trying to walk in them, didn’t do a very good job and his feet hurt afterwards!

I am in the mood for ice cream.  I am thinkingI will make some today.  I love the cookbook Vice Cream for the best vegan ice cream
Not sure what kind I will make, but I’ll be sure to take some photos.  If you don’t eat dairy – you should get this cookbook!  YUM!!!!!
I got some great looking squash and eggplant from a friend!  I’m going to make eggplant stacks.  I’ll be posting the photos and the recipe on Monday!  Something to look forward to. We are also going to the Shrimp Boil today.  It is a fund-raiser for the local Y, it will be a lot of fun, Brian is helping with the cooking!

Peeled Snacks and family fun

Last night was one of the best nights! All the kids came over for a pizza night. I love these nights. We all get to make our own pizzas and everyone pitches in to help! So, we were all in the kitchen working on the pizzas and I told the kids I had a new snack to try. Peeled Snacks. You should have seen their faces. The raced to the pantry to get them out. ( My kids are 18, 20 and 24!!) I loved it that they got so excited over dried fruit. They pulled them out of the pantry and started a taste test!

Peeled Snacks are a natural source of vitamins and fiber, completely dairy, wheat and gluten free. They are just dried fruit! They are also low in calories. The whole bag contains 110 – 150 calories! Just perfect for a quick snack!
They LOVED the apple, pineapple and mango. Cherry and apricot got a lot of votes and banana wasn’t the best according to them. I liked them all. They finished off just about all of them. I had to laugh, when they were smaller it was hard to get them to even try something new! Now, they can’t wait to see what I have hanging around!!
Peeled Snacks have no added sugar, oil, preservatives or other fillers, so it is real food! I love that!

I wanted to get a picture of the snacks, but they were gone before I could get the camera out. I was planning on taking a picture of the aftermath, but it was just a bit embarrassing :)
I did take a picture of the favorite pizza of the night – TACO PIZZA! I used morningstar farms crumbles seasoned with taco meat, a little tomato sauce and Sheese (whole post devoted to them soon!), piled on some lettuce, tomato and black olives. Some of us put salsa on the top, some didn’t! It was really tasty!

Be sure to pick up some Peeled Snacks to have on hand. The kids love them and so will you! After you have enjoyed your snack, you can send in your empty bags and Peeled Snacks will process them and recycle them. Because the bags are double layered to preserve the freshness of the fruit, the layers have to be seperated before recycling.
