Dessert for dinner, yes please!

I LOVE Reese’s PB Cups. Probably my favorite candy.  I don’t eat them anymore, but I miss them.  So, imagine my surprise and delight when I found a way to make these a HEALTHY way!

Luckily for you, I am going to share my joy with you!

1 scoop or packet of Vegan chocolate Shakeology
1 packet stevia

mix together with enough water to have a pudding-like consistency
Put 1 tbsp in the bottom of a cupcake liner
layer 1/2 tbsp of natural peanut butter on top of the chocolate layer
layer another tbsp of the shakeology mix on top
Put tray in freezer for about 1 hour
Eat and Enjoy!
1 serving = 4 pb cups

I’m going to keep these in my freezer at all times for those pesky chocolate cravings.  I love knowing that I am having a healthy treat instead of all that sugar and fat!

Don’t have Shakeology?  Well, we need to fix that right away!  Dessert for dinner is just a click away!  Shakeology comes in Chocolate, Greenberry, Vegan Chocolate ( my favorite) and Tropical.

If you haven’t heard about Shakeology, it is a meal replacement shake that is like 5 trips to the salad bar.  On top of all the health benefits, it is YUMMY!  Trust me, this is da bomb!  Brian and I drink it every single day and now we will be eating it too!

I wish I knew who to give credit to for this recipe.  It is not mine, but it is wonderful.  Thank you to whoever came up with it!

Back to Basics

I had been doing TurboFire for so long and I decided to go back to a new routine.    Don’t get me wrong, I love TF, but I wasn’t seeing the results anymore, so I went back to an old friend….Slim in 6.  I’ve never made it through a full 6 weeks of Slim in 6.  I think it is the most effective workout for women, but it is a bit boring to me.  So, since I have the newer version, and I’ve committed to sticking with it for 4 weeks and then see how it goes.

I’ve been really sore, and I’m on my second week.  So, I am on my way!  Go Me!!!

It has caused me to really think about the way that I was working out.  I thought if I didn’t go balls to the wall all the time, I wouldn’t get the results I wanted.  Toning, weight loss and inches lost is what I was looking for.  I would push myself as hard as I could most days and then I would be a little burned out….  take a few days off, then go again as hard as I could!  I was having a few issues, mostly with my foot and I was in pain.  This has made me think that I can get results without having to beat myself up, so that is why I chose Slim in 6.  So, my joints are a little happier, my foot is happier and that makes me happier 🙂

I’m continuing with my Shakeology as usual, my challenge to myself for the month of October is to eat more salads.  My goal is one per day. Shake and Salad.  So far, I’ve made it…..

Me and Darin Olien, one of the creators of Shakeology

I still have the Facebook Book Club if anyone is interested in joining us.  We are focusing on the free/reduced price books for the kindle and nook.  You don’t have to have an e-reader to join in, the apps are free for your computer or smart phone.

Just drop me a note by email or facebook or twitter if you want to be involved.  We have read some great books and found some really amazing authors that I probably wouldn’t have read.

If you have a kindle or nook, you have to check out Pixel of Ink on their website or  facebook.  They keep track of the new free/bargain books and it makes it so easy!

We have a fast readers group and we read several books per month and we have a one book a month group.  You can choose which ones you want to participate in.  After everyone is finished with a book, we discuss it.  It’s fun!

We’d love to have you join us!

A few of my favorite things…..

It’s been a while since I’ve shared some of my favorite things.  So, I think it’s high time to chat about them….

I can’t do a blog post about my favorite things without mentioning my vita-mix.  I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY!  I usually take it with me everywhere I go.  This weekend, we went to the lake and I didn’t take it, I missed it.  My shakeology wasn’t as good, my soup wasn’t as good.  I’m spoiled and I know it!

I also love my fitbit.  I love that the website is free, I love that it clips to my bra and no one can see it do it’s thing.  They have a new one out – the Fitbit Ultra.  The difference with the new one is that it will count your climb.  It has a clock on it too.  As cool as it sounds ( I am a gadget junkie), I will stick with my old one for now.  It is working fine and I don’t NEED the extra stuff right now. Right?

I just got a clarisonic and am LOVING it!  It is taking my skin care routine to a new level.

Speaking of skin care, I LOVE Nerium AD.    I am getting really great results with it.  Check it out for sure!  Lightening my age spots and wrinkles are disappearing!  YAY!

I got the new Urban Decay Naked eye shadow palette and it is certainly one of my favorite things these days as well as Korres makeup.

My Brooks sneakers are a Godsend! My plantar fasciitis is doing so much better since I got them! If you are local, be sure to check out The Run Around for the best shoes and best service!

I’ve been drinking Coconut Water lately and it is helping me to stay hydrated and I’m enjoying it.  I picked up the Zico Chocolate flavored one at Whole Foods this weekend.  Haven’t tried it yet, I’ll let you know how it is –

speaking of chocolate – Chocolate Shakeology is da!!  Refer back to the vita-mix to get the best shake ever!!!

These are a few of my favorite things….. I have many more, but that is enough for now.  What are your favorite things right now?

ch ch changes….

Well, today was supposed to be a day of cleaning and that didn’t go, not that it  is necessarily a bad thing, but it is just a change to my plans.  It’s a plan B day!

So today was more about shopping, getting things organized and taking it a little easy.  Yes, I took it a little easy and I’m okay with that.

Got up and had my shake – chocolate bee – I might have a new favorite, jus’ sayin’!!

Did my workout – TurboFire 55 and then hit the showers.

I had planned to have the house cleaned today, but now it is being done on Thursday which is better anyway, so I got in the kitchen and made a couple of soups.  I’ve been making bigger batches and freezing some for later.  It’s working well for me now.  Today was potato and broccoli.

So, lunch was a big bowl of potato soup and some triscuit crackers.  YUM!  No one else in my house likes potato soup, so I make it just for little ol’ me!  I like it with a ton of onions and garlic.  The house smelled wonderful!

This afternoon I got a little office work done and then got to play with my Madelyn for a while.  She was in a mood and it was just better for her to leave pre-school a little early.  I’m not saying that she got in trouble, just saying she was a bit distracted.  LOL!!!  We played and she had a big snack ( her onies – macaroni in Madelynese)  Even though it was so hot, we played outside but had to cut that time short, so Santa bowling and hide the Santa had to take over.  She loves those nesting Santa’s.

After Mads left, I had my dinner – almond joy shakeology.  A classic!  Drank it outside on the deck and read for a while.  Since then, I’ve been taking it easy and I’m thinking I’ll even turn in early tonight.  I’m so tired.  A girl needs her beauty sleep, ya know?

I’d really appreciate a few prayers for perfect weather for us on Saturday.  We have been watching the reports and it started out with 20% chance of rain, now it’s 50% chance.  We need the rain, but please not on Saturday….  it’s an outside wedding.

Hope you are all having a wonderful, relaxing evening with your loved ones.

This week is going to FLY by!

Goodness, I am just now getting to sit down for a minute.   It’s been a busy day to say the least, but I know that my whole week is going to be that way and it is going to fly by!

Started my morning off with my shake – I really need to get to the store because I am completely out of fruit.  So, it was just a plain ol’ peanut butter shakeology – I forget how wonderful that tastes!!!  Just like a Reese’s Cup.

Workout this morning was TurboFire Fire 30 and ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 1.  Then I hit the ground running.  We are getting taxes ready for the accountant to finish up, then we rented a duplex, we ran errands, and then I was starving.

Lunch was a big salad with veggies and hummus and balsamic vinegarette and some portabello chili with a couple of crackers.

I love soups and chilis.  I could eat it everyday.  Maybe I will for a while… mmmmm, broccoli soup is sounding pretty good for tomorrow….

Then we were off again……   I had a phone call for Beachbody work and got my homework and then just got it done.  I really decided that if it was going to get done, I needed to do it right away.  So, it is DONE!

Then it was more errands and dinner – another shake.  This time I made the chocolate bee – it was so good.  I will definitely make it again.  Chocolate shakeology, 1 tbsp almond butter and 1 tsp honey.  Delish!

A girlfriend came over and we did a little shopping.  I got the tablecloths and napkins for the big shindig at my house on Thursday!  We are hosting the rehearsal dinner, it’s going to be laid back, thank goodness, but I still want it to be very nice for Nick and Lauren.  A trip with a girlfriend just isn’t the same without a stop at the bookstore.  I love bookstores.  I could be in there forever, however, I felt like I was cheating on the kindle a bit…..  I didn’t buy anything.  I have gotten so MANY free books lately that I don’t need anything else right now.  But I love to browse and get some good ideas.  AND I had a great decaf ginger peach tea!

We always have a great time – check out this hat I found

No, I didn’t buy it.  I may regret that decision later…..  nah…..

So, now I’m sitting down for a few, watching the Real Housewives and getting this blog post done.  My goal is to post every day this week, I hope I can meet that goal!  I’ll do my best!

Countdown is on….

Hard work is paying off!

Wow, it’s been another busy day.  I started off waking up feeling refreshed, I LOVE that!!  Doesn’t happen very often for me!!!

I had my shakeology – chocolate with peanut butter and honey

and then did my workout – Turbofire Core 20 and Stretch 40.  I love both of those.  I needed that stretch……

Then it was on the run for the rest of the day.  I had a dentist appt, hair appt and lunch with Brian and Nick.  I had the BEST salad, it was a build your own.  I ordered it with everything but no meat or cheese.  This is what I got!  Amazing!

I had to get one of my Turbofire workouts polished, it kept skipping and was annoying me, so I’m hoping that this will work!  I’ll find out in the morning!!

Brian and I ran errands and I was STARVING, we got home and I had my fruit for snack and then I did my afternoon workout – Burn Circuit 2 from ChaLEAN Extreme.  I can’t believe how much I was sweating by just lifting weights  – go heavy or go home!!!

It seems to be working, the scale is going down and I feel so much lighter.  YAY!  All this hard work is paying off!

Then I had my second shake for the day – Brian got to pick the flavor – big surprise – peanut butter and banana…..

I’ve been on the treadmill to get the last of my steps in and I have read my book, watched some football and been on a training call.

This wedding is causing me to get some things done and it is a good thing!  We are on the countdown!!!   9 DAYS!!!

Discussion:  How is your week going?

The Healthy Trifecta!

I have to say that I truly believe that in order to be really feeling fit, you have to work on fitness, diet and your mind!  Yep, it’s the trifecta.

Fitness is your exercise.  This includes another trifecta, cardio, weight training and stretching.  All 3 are so important and contribute to your overall fitness.   With the workouts I do through  Beachbody, I get an all encompassing program that incorporates all 3 into my weekly routine.  I’ve been using the bands instead of free weights and let me tell you, they get the job done!

Diet is just that – what you are putting in your mouth.  We all know what we need to do, sometimes it is just so hard to do it.  Eat mostly fresh fruits, veggies, clean proteins and drink your water!  I know you are probably tired of me saying it, but all of these are key to getting the weight off and keeping it off.

Your MIND is just as important as your fitness and diet.  You can be exercising and eating right and have a lot of negative self-talk and you will not see the results you are looking for.

So, how do you work all of this into your daily life?

FITNESS:  I find that if  I work out first thing in the morning, it works best for me.  I get it done and I will not be able to make excuses later in the day.  No worries about time getting away from me, something fun coming up in my day, or just being tired and not feeling like doing it.  I’m a social person.  If someone calls or emails and wants to do something fun, I’m out the door.  So, getting it done first thing and SCHEDULING it just like you would any other important appointment is KEY!  Your workout is NON-NEGOTIABLE!

If you are struggling with getting it done, then lay your clothes out at night, put them where you can see them, and just do it when you get up.  Get a workout partner – either in person or online in the WOWY gym. ( get your free account with me as your coach at ) If you know someone else is counting on you to show up, you will be more likely to stick with it.

DIET:  Cook your meals ahead of time.   Plan your meals.   Make it easy on yourself!  I try to fix a couple of full meals on Sunday.  Then I can store them in the freezer or fridge and I can grab and go if needed.  Get Shakeology, nothing is easier than that.  Mix up your shake, drink and you are done!  Make sure you have enough food in the house.  It is so much easier to make a quick stir-fry than it is to get in the car, drive to the restaurant, place your order, drive home and eat.  Seriously!  Keep your food journal.  You can see where you need to clean it up (uhhh,  tortilla chips and soy chai’s anyone???)

MIND:  I try to read 10 pages of a personal development book every single day.  I listen to personal development audio when I’m in the car by myself.  (Drive time university, baby) and music always puts me in a good mood.  We are all a work in progress.  This is so important to stay focused, positive and kind to other people as well.  How can we be kind to others when we are not kind to ourselves.  Tell yourself that you are worth 15 minutes a day!! YOU ARE!!

Ok, I would love to have you give this a try for one week and then let me know how you do.  I think you will find that things start to fall in place for you, you will feel better, look better and even sleep better.  You will think happier thoughts and just be kind to everyone ( well, most everyone !!)

Thanks for stopping by!!

Blue Tongues are Pretty Impressive!

Yesterday we had Miss Madelyn!  Love my Wednesday playdates!

We went to lunch with Grumpy or Bumpy, not sure what she is saying still on that one, and Uncle Nick.  We had to make a quick stop at the bank and Uncle Nick brought out a sucker for her.  She latched on to that one right away!

She was pretty impressed with her blue tongue.  All day long she kept talking about everyone having a blue tongue. She WAS the only one!!!

I don’t know what the temperatures are where you are, but here they are brutal.  We’ve been keeping cool by staying inside as much as possible, soaking up the a/c.

Luckily, an icy cold Shakeology hits the spot for one of my meals.  If it stays this hot, I may have to enjoy more than one a day.

I got the cutest new Shakeology cup!  Makes it even TASTIER!!!

Had the best day of pampering today.  I’ll tell you all about it in tomorrow’s post!!!

Discussion:  How are you staying cool?

Eating on the run!

My eating has been off lately since we have been so busy, running around and working so much.  I am going to plan better this week and make better choices.

The problem I had was that I didn’t take my food with me every day.  The first couple of days, I had a big bag with me – oranges, protein bars, shakeology, and almonds.  I could stop for a snack if I was hungry.  Most of the time that didn’t happen, but I did have food that I could eat.

Then I got tired, didn’t feel like packing any food up and just ran out the door thinking I could wing it – WRONG!  I ended up having a small bag of chips and peanut butter crackers most of the time for lunch.  First of all, that is not enough food and it is empty calories.

So, I thought I could put a post together about eating on the run and the best choices to pack.

Fruit – easy and very portable, full of nutrition. Oranges, bananas, apples – whatever you like!

Almonds/Nuts – great protein pick me up – put them in the snack sized baggies for the correct portion sizes.

PB&J sammys – doesn’t necessarily have to be refrigerated, easy to fix and transport.

Shakeology – just toss a packet in your bag and mix with water – super easy on-the-go meal with all the nutrition you need.

Protein bars/granola bars – Just make sure you don’t take the chocolate ones if it is hot.  They get quite messy!!!

Water – toss in several bottles of water (now that the boil order has been lifted, you can use your re-fillable bottle!)  A cute water bottle always makes me smile!!

If you plan in advance, you CAN eat healthy on the run.  It may not be the same as eating at home, but healthy choices are available and it’s so much better than a bag of chips!

It’s all about Shaun T!

Hey hey Hey!  It’s Tuesday!!!

May is all about Shaun T.  Yesterday was his birthday and we are celebrating tonight with a Hip Hop Abs workout!  Get ready to have some fun!  Dance away those lbs and inches!!

The plan for May is Hip Hop Abs, Rockin’ Body, Insanity and Asylum.  One extreme to the other 🙂  I can not wait!

Looking at Shaun T certainly makes those workouts a little more fun!!

I’ve been having a lot of fun with my Shakeology lately.  Trying out some new recipes:

1 scoop chocolate shakeology
10 oz water ( I like mine thinner)
1 tsp vanilla
ice to taste

Cherry Monkey:
1 scoop chocolate shakeology
1/2 cup dark, sweet cherries ( I like to use frozen)
1/2 banana
8-10 oz water
splash of almond milk
ice to taste

Blueberry Dream Shakeology
1 scoop chocolate shakeology
8-10 oz water
splash of almond milk
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 banana
ice to taste

Shakeology Ice Cream
One of my favorites – recipe from Mike and Tami French:

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup almond milk
1/4 cup coconut milk ( or mimic creme)
1 tsp natural peanut butter or 2 tbsp PB2
2 scoops protein powder (vanilla, I love Sun Warrior brown rice protein)
1 scoop chocolate Shakeology

Mix for a few seconds and then add a lot of ice to make it thick like soft serve ice cream.  When it is the thickness you like, scoop into a bowl and top with shredded coconut, sliced almonds or even a crunched up protein bar!

Be sure to check out the May issue of  O Magazine for a great article about some of the healthy ingredients in Shakeology.  Great article and the best part, all the ingredients are IN Shakeology!!
